Silver Spring Senators

1990-Present

Frank Howard, GM

Franchise #6

History Brief

One of the more stable franchises in TCBA, Franchise #6 was purchased by Frank Howard in 1990, moving the club from Philadelphia to Silver Spring. Franchise #6 was founded by Mike Kane's Kilkenny Rounders Club in 1921, where the team played until 1970. The franchise was transferred to another brewmeister, Bill Kirwin, who retained the club until 1974, when it disbanded. Al Zarse revived the team in Rockford for nine seasons, but after Zarse went AWOL in the winter of 1984, the league seized the Rockford assets and handed them over to Chuck Steinmetz of Philadelphia. After five seasons of dwindling attendance, the franchise was once again up for sale. Enter Frank Howard.
