Expansion Franchise #24, which was established by Richard Hawkins in 1999 as the Hawks, was moved to Fargo in 2005 after being claimed as found treasure off the coast of Rhode Island by fortune-hunter turned fortune-builder, Jeff Hobbs. The Fungoes, who won their first pennant during the franchise’s 10th anniversary season in 2009, claimed their first league championship via the Wildcard route in 2011.
