Al Keefer, GM
Franchise #10
Pharmacy magnate Al Keefer purchased Franchise #10 from Frank Tedeschi at an Endwell, NY estate sale in 1975, re-establishing one of the most stable franchises in TCBA history. For a team based in Waukesha for more than 70 years, Keefer became only the fourth owner of Franchise #10. Ironically, Keefer and Tedeschi were involved in another franchise swap in 1975, when the original Mexicali team was obtained from Keefer and moved to San Francisco by Tedeschi's D'Oro investment group. Six years later, Tedeschi's boyhood friend, Marty Fiehl, would purchase that franchise (#18) and establish the mighty Scranton dynasty. Keefer would operate Franchise 10 as the Evanston Bees for 48 successful seasons before retiring just one month into the 2023 season.
